BBC Radio Ulster covered the cancellation of the Women’s Rights Network Northern Ireland’s panel planned for the Belfast arts festival, Féile an Phobail, several times in the fortnight running up to the event.
So organisations have freedom to ‘associate’ with us or not - but women don’t get a choice at all about who we associate with…. But they don’t see the double standard?
Well done to the sex realists who appeared on these radio segments with partisan hosts and hyperbolic pro trans supporters. The policing of tone of only the sex realist side was obvious, hopefully even some neutral listeners noticed it
It's unfortunate that the radio discussion became so heated and emotional, but that was mainly the responsibility of the person who was in the chair. It would have been difficult for undecided listeners to make sense of a lot of it.
Comparing women's rights activists with Trump and Musk was an obvious open goal since they're two of the biggest sexists on the planet.
Rather than being polite, perhaps we might concentrate on staying calm, logical, and asking incisive questions. And any opportunity to introduce an element of humour might be exploited.
More appropriate to compare trans activists to Trump: "Morris declared that Joyce had a “nasty attitude”, interrupted her constantly and made many false claims." These are the exact words and tactics Trump himself uses to denigrate women.
The sexism is breathtaking : women - be polite and use the correct tone when complaining about the people taking your rights away!! Thank you for all you do in shining a light on this nonsense.
