Sex Matters does important work. I am a retired lawyer in Australia. In many ways the UK, having the "Mother of Parliaments" and a tradition of case law - with its "Golden Thread" of justice (which is actually criminal law but certainly one instance of inspiration) - that for many Commonwealth countries provided precedents in civil and criminal law (no longer binding for Australian courts since 1986 but they can be persuasive). Now the example from the UK is that the Supreme Court has made a ruling and Government organs, institutions, public officials and many ordinary citizens, even one year later, thumb their noses at the law - and seemingly this is generally accepted. Despite there being nothing confusing about the judgment. Courts in their case declarations and judgments assert the common law, i.e. a reflection of societal values, the law common to the wider community. That the Court in this case is ignored by so many, indeed actively and openly resisted, with no sanction, I find stunning. Such a reaction should then trigger parliament to affirm its democratic dominance and legislate with the "written law" to specifically and narrowly define and stipulate the ruling in statute and include penalties for breaches. There was no difficulty regarding hygiene for transsexuals before the confected insanity of transworld took over - no one complained when unisex facilities appeared. This current mania is itself mind boggling. As a schoolboy I was curious about the girls' toilets but I also knew there was clear signage and there were rules because we were different. Teachers and parents never had to explain this most basic of biological facts. How it has come to needing laws and court cases - and then displays of disregard and open contravention of such - is a staggeringly tragic indication of how many Western societies, but the UK in particular, are confused about being human. It even appears that some scientists are bamboozled. I am not exaggerating when I observe that very little good news comes from the UK, and I often think, "Oh, Britannia, what have you done?"
