Yesterday was the deadline for the City of London Corporation to file its substantive defence on the lawfulness of its policy of allowing trans-identifying men into the women’s pond and showers on Hampstead Heath.
I tend to read "trans identifying man" as meaning a woman, and "trans identifying male" as meaning a man. But I guess it's all about house style.
The oblique "sex discrimination" approach of Sex Matters to the pool issue--if allowing trans identified males into a female-only space, why not allow ALL males?--seems to have totally confounded the City of London!
And apart from the annoying delay in unscrambling their heads to admit defeat, it's really very funny... LOL
Agreed - at 7 syllables, "trans-identifying man/male" is long-winded and confusing (to most ie the uninitiated) when a simple 2 syllable "t®@nny" would be quicker and *everybody* knows exactly what that means 🤣😜💪
I remember reading comments from patrons of the pond/lido ten years ago that there was one particularly pervy trans-identified man frequently there. He was elderly and had massive moob implants. He would invariably wear a skimpy bikini, not a swimsuit, and would always approach lone women or mothers with very young children and ask them to fasten or undo his bikini top for him. I'm sure he'd sussed out who were the #BeKind, vulnerable women who wouldn't dare say no. He would never have tried pulling that stunt on me with my "resting TERF face", that's for sure.
The City twists and turns.
You will get them in the end.

Pippa- so men get to use 3 ponds?
I will never use the word ‘woman’ to describe a trans-identifying male/man. That word is taken by, you know, women.

I'm fine with "trans-identified male" or "trans-identified female" because that tells me what sex they are (despite the number of syllables).
But "trans-identified man" and "trans-identified woman" just leaves me guessing... and trying to figure it out from the context.
It’s a suite of leisure pools, NOT a fetish club.
